VG5 safety gears are unique in the VG range of safety gears, as they provide bi-directional protection against overspeeding within a single frame. The VG5 safety gears can be used where pit depth is a concern, with a space saving of 127mm when compared to duplexed VG2a or VG6 units.

This is a compact safety gear that measures just 76mm in height and weighs only 7.3kg. It follows the same pattern as the VG safety gears, and can be installed for downward operation or bi-directional operation with either having frames under and above the car or duplexed together under the car.
